Strawberry Hill

Strawberry Hill Hotel has 13 room suites, villas, and cottages including studio suites and cottages and one- and two-bedroom villas on a site with a 360-degree view of the mountains and Kingston. The project started small with the construction of Adinkra Cottage as a first response to the destruction of the iconic 18th-century Strawberry Hill house by Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. The cottage paid homage to the original house in its traditional construction detailing and response to the climate, the mountainous terrain, and views. The hotel followed over a three-year period using local labour and workshops on site. Cottages were built with timber construction and a modular arrangement of rooms and verandas, giving opportunities for indoor-outdoor living and maximizing views. Central conference, library, dining room, and bar were constructed on the site of the original house overlooking Kingston.
